    I looked around for about two months for a new computer. In my search I landed I was a little hesitant. But the features that come with it are great. When you do research the “new” I5 Intel processor was the way to go. Runs fasted than expected. Better than the Core 2 Duo. I use every day. The 64bit system is great. The 500GB hard drive is more than expected. Windows 7 very nice and I was face to Windows XP. He hated vista. The large screen size to 17. 3 inches and very clear. Hooks up easily to any TV with with HDMI. He had problems playing CD and DVD. I would suggest getting a wireless mouse and keyboard though. The laptop is very light weight. A few minor problems during the opening had to let the computer run all programs before I could use it. If you are looking for a new computer would highly recommend this one for features and price. Shopped around for months and could not find one.

    For several months I spent many hours a week research notebooks, like the person before me, I am very happy that landed on it. This is a great notebook, and you can not beat the price for what you get. Great big screen, good keyboard layout, incredibly fast, quality construction, I could go on and on. If you are looking for a notebook with the top of the line specifications, and a large screen, you can not look further. If you’re out for a notebook that can play the latest, graphics-intensive games, this is for you.

    * Update – I’ve been checking this notebook for gaming recently, and it seems to hold its own. I use it mostly for older games, Counter-Strike, Counter-Strike: Source, Half Life 2, The Sims 2. For these games, played surprisingly well with all settings on high. Few download demos of the latest games went well, adjust the display settings and may just be able to pull it off. Just wanted to throw it out there for those who are less interested in casual gaming with the notebooks.

    The portal NV7922u laptop is an excellent computer for the price. Take I5 processor and 500 GB hard drive. The laptop is lightweight, thin, solid construction and very fast, best of all is 17. 3 inch screen. The keyboard is well designed with large letters and seems to run cool. As other reviewers have said that is not designed for games but the graphics are good. On the negative side of the power lights on the bottom left corner is a bit annoying and it comes with little documentation. Once the button is located on the right side of the computer powers up and easy wireless connections detected immediately. You can now get a better computer for the price.

    The good: I5 Processor M430. For the most part, I only run simple software productivity and surf the web, but speed is an improvement on my old desktop P4. The 17. 3 “widescreen is bright and crisp. HDMI out is convenient for streaming Netflix in high definition television.

    The bad: I would expect some video editing software (even if it was ‘explicit’ or «lite versions), but at this price should not have. Also, some Windows 7 compatibility issues with existing network printer. The driver is not available. The position of the PgUp and PgDn keys on the numeric is undesireable.

    Overall: For this price system performs well, but I have seen a little more software.

    I can not get this computer to recognize external USB hard drives me, so I try in vain for a week to get help from technical support portal.

    The emails from my test with Gateway tech support and have gone something like this. . .

    Me: Contacted technical support through the website with a detailed description of the problem.
    Gateway (next day): You have to register your laptop.
    Me (15 minutes later): Very good. Done. Now, how do I fix the problem USB hard disk;

    Gateway (next day): Try restarting the computer.
    Me (10 minutes later): Tried it. What is the next;
    Gateway (next day): Take any error message when you start the computer;
    Me (5 minutes later): No error messages. What is the next;
    Gateway (next day): It is USB hard drive listed under “Hard Drives” in “Computer” tab;
    Me (5 minutes later): As I said in the original description of my problem, USB hard drive not included in my “Computer” tab. What’s next;
    Gateway (next day): Do you see any splats, questions, or red X in device manager?
    Me (10 minutes later): Yes. Now it;
    Gateway (7 days 6 hours 21 minutes after the initial report of the problem): This problem is beyond our ability to solve. We need to invite answers from the gate for further assistance at a rate of $ 2. 95 per minute.

    I’m back to boxing and his return.

    This is the first and last Gateway product I will ever buy.
